Great Discoveries

This weekend has officially kicked off what a "real" summer would be like. The highs have been in the 80s and 90s, and the humidity has kicked up a notch. Now this is all fine and dandy considering that fact that its not raining...but I've definitely learned a few lessons on being prepared for a Washington summer.

1. Always have sunscreen handy. That super pale white skin will burn to a crisp in a second.
2. BB creams are not ideal for heat. Unless you like your makeup sliding off your face. Same goes for non-waterproof mascara.
3. Have bug spray on hand. Once that sun starts to go down, the evil Mosquitos come out. Evening BBQs or just hanging out in the backyard, beware!
4. Transition clothes. The weather here is terribly unpredictable. Your best bet is to always have a jacket and umbrella stored in your car. And a bathing suit.
5. Fans. I have 4 in my house. Thank goodness because I'd be a puddle on the floor since no houses around here have AC.
6. Blackout shades. The sun stays out late and comes back out early. Unless you're a night owl and an early riser, it's best you invest in these. Especially if you have kids.
7. Friends with pools. Or backyards. I don't have either, but I have multiple friends that do. Let's just say I visit them a lot. And obviously they are good company because they put up with me.
9. An agenda. One of the best things about living up here is the multitude of festivals and things to do. Literally there is something going on every weekend. And I've made it a habit to always seek out fun things to do on the cheap - there's never a reason to say "I'm bored".

All that being said, I leave you with some fun pics from me weekend at the Taste of Tacoma, pool time, and Tacoma Art Museum.

Ever since I saw the beautiful photos of the recent Girl Scout Camp themed retreat at Ojai Rancho Inn put on by Bash Please, The Life Styled,  Fiore Beauty attended by the bloggers of Smitten Studio, the Glitter Guide, Sweet Thing Blog, DesignLoveFest, among many other creative women, I have been wanting to attend one of these awesome retreats to meet and connect with other creative women. How cool would it be to get a group of Pacific Northwest ladies together and meet up somewhere like Lake Chelan? I would absolutely LOVE to meet Taylor from His Little Lady, Erika from Rouge and Whimsy, and Heather from JustLove.ly

Check out the gorgeous pictures of the retreat on The Glitter Guide's blog! What do you think of this idea?? Any takers??

Babies.

For the past several years, it has been nonstop baby madness between all my friends. Among that, I worked at an OBGYN office for a year. Needless to say, I've had baby fever like crazy. I'm so grateful for all my friends and their beautiful babies- whom they let me snuggle and love on until my heart's content.

I've been pinning a lot of baby stuff - leading people to think I'm pregnant. But alas, I am not...I'm just day dreaming. Maybe a little obsessively. But hey - if you are pregnant or just had a baby...these are the things I would get inspiration from ;)

Last Weekend

Last weekend Riley and I enjoyed the sunshine! I had to work for a few hours on Saturday so a friend of mine watched Riley. Sunday we went to check out a little beach park in Steilacoom - it was perfect weather and I loved the fact that they had a park, covered picnic area, and outdoor showers! We played for a few hours before heading to a little burger shack on the way home. It was an awesome weekend! Wish it could've been spent with my hubby!

End of the week fun!

Today we went to a local street festival and farmers market...it was so nice to get  out in the gorgeous sunshine!!! Riley and her friend Olivia had so much fun going in all the bounce houses and riding the little rides. They even got their faces painted as part of a fundraiser for the Fire Department...and no street festival is complete with cotton candy!

The day before we got the mini kitchen my husband ordered for Riley! It is so cute, it's like a replica of ours ;) and that UPS guy is clever about hiding packages! Haha.

Have a great weekend!
