Sand in the City

A few weekends ago my friend Michelle, her darling baby boy Deacon, Riley and I all went to Olympia to check out Sand in the City at the Hands-On Children's Museum. They had tons of free crafts, demonstrations, live music, and food trucks. It was an awesome last minute Sunday trip!

Washington State Fair

So we went two times to the fair, once as a family, then just me and Riley. Yesterday it was pouring rain randomly so that put a little damper on things, but Riley got to go on several rides thanks to the sweet girl leaving the fair as we got there who handed her ride bracelet to us saving us a bunch of money!! And Riley got her cotton candy that so she really couldn't complain! Cotton candy is a big treat around here - I already limit candy to a few pieces on a holiday or a birthday party so a giant bag of sugar surely will only be limited to a single State Fair visit!!! Did you go to the fair this summer?

Hops & Crops Festival

This weekend we went to the Hops and Crops Festival to try out some local brews, eat, and listen to live music. We arrived late because I had to work, but had just enough time to do (drink) a little bit of everything. I even got some pretty sunflowers from one of the fruit and vegetable vendors. Love market flowers! The kids loved all the animals, and of course, dancing to the music. The event was a lot smaller than I expected, with the focus on the beer tasting itself, less on the "crops" side of it. But it was fun none the less and I would recommend it as an activity to do with the family!

One Year Anniversary

For our one year anniversary, my husband and I stayed at the Willows Lodge in Woodinville, WA. Just north of Bellevue, this quaint little town boasts many wineries, including Columbia Valley and Chateau Ste Michelle. The lodge was also conveniently right next door to Redhook Brewery where they offered $1 tours and generous tastings of their beer. The food in their Forecasters restaurant was also very delicious! While staying at the lodge we took advantage of their complimentary bicycles, riding to the wineries as well as taking a morning bike ride on Sunday on the walking/biking trail along the Sammamish River. We had a delicious and fancy dinner at the lodge's Barking Frog and had our slices of year old wedding cake. It actually wasn't half bad! This trip was absolutely perfect, I would highly recommend staying here to anyone looking for since little get away and who also enjoys wine!
