Thoughts on Cooking

Now I'm new to the whole wife-domestic-goddess thing, and while I actually enjoy doing laundry and the dishes, one thing I just haven't gotten into is cooking. I know what you're thinking, how the heck do you survive without basic cooking skills?? Well...I've always been lucky in the fact that others will cook for me, or I just end up making pasta. Or breakfast for dinner. Simple. Well not anymore. My husband is an amazing cook, and while I wish he could just cook everyday, it's hard to expect someone to come home from a tasking day only to then make dinner on top of that. I've tried my hand at a few different dishes. While they aren't exactly the healthiest, at least it's something. And it's not burnt. I call that a win. Now if only I could get my hands on a crockpot, or some amazing dish recipes that could be made quickly. Got any ideas?? :)

Thanksgiving.

I am thankful for my incredible husband, who had been nothing but amazing!! He works so hard to give Riley and I a good life. I'm thankful for my healthy beautiful daughter who makes life exciting and fun. I am also thankful for my supportive family, without them I don't know how I would have gotten through the hard times of the past four years. So THANK YOU for being such amazing presences in my life. I love you!

A Trip to Forks, WA

So it's no surprise I'm a huuuuge fan of Twilight. Ever since I first started watching the movies, I have wanted to visit the place in the story. Although it was pouring rain, each shop I stepped into had friendly staff that had stories to tell. Each landmark was like the movies. If you are ever visiting Washington and don't mind a little road trip, go to Forks and geek out!

A Weekend Getaway

This past week, we decided to do a last minute marriage retreat in Port Townsend. We stayed at the Mansera Castle, which is reportedly haunted. We got to take a stroll down the picturesque streets of downtown and tried some beer at the Port Townsend Brewery. We caught up with friends who were also on the retreat, and finally had the chance to come together and enjoy each others company on a mini vacation. The material they taught at the retreat to strengthen our marriage was on the book by Gary Chapman, called The Five Love Languages. I found it to be very helpful and made sense as to why it is so successful! If you haven't read it, I highly suggest you do!!
